I’ve been shopping around for good quality queen size foldable foam mattresses to use for everyday use because I’d rather have that opposed to a big, bulky bed that takes up so much room. When I look at the reviews of products, I always read the 1-star reviews to see if there are any consistent problems. The problems I see with most foldable foam mattresses are the smell, discomfort, and the actual thickness the seller claims the mattress to be. I purchased a 4” queen size mattress. When my mattress came in, the first thing I did was take out all the foam to 1.) wash the cover, 2.) allow the foam to fully expand, and 3.) allow whatever smell it had to air out.WASHING THE COVERI’ve had another foam mattress with a removable cover. Just to remove it was so difficult, but to put it back on was harder than splitting an atom. It took about 30 minutes to take off and 45 min-1 hour to put back on, and because it was so difficult, all the zippers broke. However, with this mattress, it took about 5 minutes to take off and about 10 minutes to put back on. I’m assuming it took longer to put on because it might’ve shrunk a little in the dryer (instructions say to dry on low, which I did), I did it on the couch with only the tv as light, and it was my first time putting it on. I put it on with ease, and now I don’t have to dread washing the cover anymore. Just this reason alone will be why I will buy another one in the future.ALLOWING THE FOAM TO FULLY EXPANDSo I’ve seen photos of buyers where they had purchased a mattress and it wasn’t truly a 4” or 6”, which is why I wanted to take the cover off. I wanted to give the foam a chance to fully expand so I can measure it. After about 1 hour out of the cover, it was only 3.75” thick, but after about 4 hours, it was fully expanded to 4”. The seller recommends to allow 3-5 days for it to fully expand, but I suggest you take the cover off first and to measure without the cover.ALLOWING IT TO AIR DRYSo, I’ve read many complaints about the smell in other mattresses and how some people wasted their money because they can’t stand the smell. When I opened mine up, indeed it did have a “smell”. It was more of a fresh manufacturer kind of smell and I almost gagged (I’m sensitive to smell), but I also wanted to not only allow the mattress to fully expand by taking the cover off, I wanted to air out the smell. After about 3-4 hours, the smell was nearly gone, so I spritzed it with some Febreeze and now I can’t smell it anymore.I am a hot sleeper, so I frequently wake up in the middle of the night irritated to try to cool down. I didn’t wake up because of heat, but I did have to use the restroom. In the time that I got up to relieve myself and return back to bed, the mattress was cold. I thought for a moment that maybe I had an accident or perhaps I was sweating, NOPE! The mattress was nice and cold and I was able to quickly fall back to sleep. Also, on a side note, if you are a hot sleeper and you’re worried about getting your foam all sweaty, the cover is so easy enough to open that you can put a puppy mattress between the foam and cover to catch all your sweat. I don’t do that personally because I don’t sweat, but I just wanted to put it out there for anyone who might suffer from hyperhydrosis.I put on a fitted queen size sheet on the mattress and it caused the corners to bulge upward, so if you think that’s something that might bother you, I recommend get a pillow top queen size fitted sheet or a king size fitted sheet and tuck the excess under the mattress. The only con to this mattress, and it’s not really a con nor a complaint, is that the mattress seems a little heavy for the straps attached to it. I have to be very careful using the straps because it feels like it might rip. Other than that, I highly recommend this item. The bottom of the cover feels like those little bumps on the bottom of house shoes, the side of the cover is breathable mesh, and the top of the cover is so smooth and comfortable. If you decide to sleep without a sheet, it still feels really good. It doesn’t feel like the material will pill and it’s great if you have sensitivity issues like me.This is an excellent product and worth every penny spent. If I could give this more stars, I would. I recommend this item for comfort, versatility, and ease. 10/10UPDATE!!!!!So the one complaint I have with this mattress is that the strap ripped off. There are two straps to carry it when it’s folded; one strap carries 1/3 of the mattress, another strap carries the other 2/3 of the mattress. The strap that carries 2/3 of the mattress got ripped on one side, and I’m guessing it’s because the weight of the 3rd part of the mattress. I’m okay with this because I can actually use a thicker more durable thread to repair it. Overall, I still give this mattress a 5-star rating and still recommend it 10/10.
